Rewards!
I ALWAYS try to reward my boy when he does something right. Example: Every day it is a constant battle to get my son to sit down when he is in a chair or on the couch, mind you he is only 13 months. We have a special chair for him that he can crawl into, I think that when he is in it he feels like a BIG boy, he loves it.
However he has a habit of standing up in his chair all the time. So when he does we tell him to sit down, and when he listens his obedience is followed by a "thank you". When he began picking up words and saying them one of the first "phrases" he said was Thank You, even before he said momma. In return I feel very rewarded that my son says thank you when he is given something.
I am amazed how fast babies learn things, and what they pick up from the people around them. Babies are amazing little people, and I feel honored to be a mommy to one of the most amazing babies :-)

They sure do learn things quickly! My little guy isn't there just yet but i am looking forward to seeing him grow and learn!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new blog! I have a similar aged baby, she's 12 months...it is amazing how quickly she is picking things up from her older sister and brother - it's scary. That is so beautiful that your baby is already voluntarily saying 'thank-you'!

Trudy, how old is your little one?
ReplyDeletePatty-Jean thanks, I wish my baby had someone to learn from but right now his Daddy and I are the only one's he can learn from! Not to bad though.
Hi - welcome to the blog world. I'm a friend of Beth's at I'm Heading Toward My Destiny. She told me to pop on over and check out your blog. I enjoy hearing about your little guy and remembering what it was like when mine were that young. My two boys are 10 & 7 now. It goes by fast...be glad you are documenting everything so you won't forget.
